The Welsh Dragon Meets Modern Art

Samuel: How old are you?
Sophie: I am twenty years old.
Victoria: Whereabouts in Britain do you come from?
Sophie: I come from Hawarden in North Wales.
Timur: Have you got a pet?
Sophie: I don’t have a pet at the moment, but I had two guinea pigs when I was younger.
Yaqub: What are your favourite sweets?
Sophie: I like Haribo sweets, especially the red gummy bears. I also like any chocolate that doesn’t contain nuts, because I have an allergy.
Maike: What is your favourite dish?
Sophie: A British roast dinner which consists of meat, roast potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and gravy.
Philipp: What kind of music do you like?
Sophie: Pop music (like Ellie Goulding) and Rock music (like Muse).
Lukas: What kind of sports do you like?
Sophie: I’ve been going to dance classes since I was four years old, and at university I teach Irish dancing to other students.
Florian: where did you spend your last summer holidays?
Sophie: I went on holiday to Gran Canaria.
Philipp: What were your favourite subjects at school?
Sophie: English Literature because I enjoy reading books.
Ulrike: What are your future plans?
Sophie: Next year I will complete my final year at the University of Warwick. After that, I would like to find a job related to foreign languages.
Ann-Christin: Name five things that you like about Wales.
Sophie: 1 – The Welsh language, e.g. there is a place in Wales called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. 2 – Cardiff, which is the capital city of Wales. 3 – Food, e.g. Welsh cakes and cheese.     4 – The Welsh accent, which is usually stronger than in South Wales. It sounds very friendly but can sometimes be difficult to understand. 5 – The heritage, e.g. Wales has a lot of castles.
Maren: What are your favourite Welsh words?
Sophie: The Welsh word for microwave oven is “popty ping”…
